Dr. Michael Jungwirth, DMD
Dr. Michael Jungwirth was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and grew up in Keene, New Hampshire. He graduated first in his class from the University of Tennessee with a degree in neuroscience, where he was deeply involved in molecular and cellular biology research. His dedication to medical science advancement led to the publication of two manuscripts. He was awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, the C.W. Fite Fellowship for Outstanding Professional Promise, and the William Harris III Undergraduate Research Award.
Following his undergraduate success, Dr. Jungwirth attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Here, his ongoing passion for research and patient care was recognized with the Harvard Odontological Society Award for Excellence in Research and the Dr. Paul E. Boyle Award for Excellence in Oral Pathology. He secured several grants for his pioneering research on the non-endothelial origin of midpalatal suture osteoblasts. Committed to community service, Dr. Jungwirth served as treasurer for Operation Mouth Guard, which provides mouth guards to underprivileged athletes, and co-founded the Harvard School of Dental Medicine Introduction to Dentistry Course to inspire future dental professionals.
Dr. Jungwirth's dedication to oral and maxillofacial surgery flourished during his internship and residency at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Known for its excellent clinical training, the program allowed him to serve a diverse patient base, greatly impacting the community. His exemplary leadership skills earned him the role of Chief Resident at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
